Richard Crawford

Richard Allan Crawford, 80, of Honomu died March 13, 2017, at home. Born June 15, 1936, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was the owner and lifetime collector for Mid-Pacific Store and Collectibles.

A Celebration of His Life will be held from noon until sunset March 29 at Kaiwiki Park. Casual attire and plotted plants welcomed to plant in his garden.

He is survived by soulmate, Kathleen Kam; brothers, Barton Crawford and David Crawford; one hanai granddaughter.

Camilo Carlos Sr.

Camilo Ramoran Carlos Sr., 86, of Pahala died March 12, 2017, at Ka‘u Hospital. Born on July 16, 1930, in Naalehu, he was a retired steam generator operator for the former Ka‘u Sugar Plantation in Pahala. He also was a member of the Naalehu Sacred Heart Cathloic Church and Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Visitation is from 8-10 a.m. April 1 at the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church with a 10 a.m. Mass. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed. Cremation will follow at Dodo Mortuary Crematory in Hilo.

He is survived by sons, Camilo (Florence) Carlos Jr. of Kapaau, Cornel (Laura) Carlos of Ocean View and Camilo Carlos of Oregon; daughters, Yvonne (Louie) Perez of Naalehu, Charlene Carlos of Pahala, Polly (Dean) Camba and Lyndell Carlos of Hilo; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Mariano (Mary Jane) Carlos of Honolulu; sisters, Perfecta Garcia of Pahala, Dominga Belaras of Honolulu, Virginia (Norman) Ishikawa of Las Vegas, Leonora (Richard) Peters of California, Trinidad (Felipe) Aderianto of Pahala and Magdelena (John) McClung of Texas.

Kimiko Yoshida

Kimiko “Thelma” Yoshida, 93, of Hilo died March 10, 2017, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born July 27, 1923, in Naalehu, she was a retired sales clerk at the former Men’s Shop Store in Hilo and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Buddhist Temple.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. April 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo with a 4 p.m. service. Casual attire is requested. No flowers.

She is survived by sons, Norman (Margery) Yoshida of Portland, Ore., Grant (Nora) Yoshida, Layne (Lynn) Yoshida, all of Hilo; sisters, Sandy Zane of Hilo and Gail (Roy) Takaki of Honolulu, eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Velvet Tang

Velvet Hihilei Tang, 38, of Glenwood died March 15, 2017, at her residence. Born in Honolulu, she was a member of the Kurtistown Assembly of God.

A celebration of her life will begin at 2:30 p.m. April 2 at Coconut Island (Moku Ola). Another celebration of her life will take place from 5:30 p.m. April 7 at Restaurant 604 in Honolulu. Casual attire.

She is survived by mother, Annie-Amoy Tang of Honolulu; brothers, Allan Tang, Chaz Tang, Quinton (Sasha) Tang, all of Honolulu; sister, Rebecca (Kaleo) Akiona of Glenwood; three nieces, three nephews, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Darnell Fontes

Darnell Kehaulani Fontes, 45 of Hilo, died Feb. 27, 2017, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born March 22, 1971, in Hilo, she was vice president of Island Estate Jewelry, Inc. in Hilo.

Friends may call for visitation at 10 a.m. April 2 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with an 11 a.m. celebration of life. Casual attire; lei are welcomed.

She was survived by husband, Wendell Fontes of Hilo; sons, Gregory Kama and James Kama of Hilo; step-daughter, Amber Fontes of Hilo; step-son, Wendell Fontes Jr. of Hilo; father, Douglas (Ginny) Bush of Hilo; mother, Lorna Warner of Hilo; sister, Daina (Dan) Saiki of Hilo; brother, Dante (Taehani) Bush of Honolulu; one grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Song Lee

Song Soon Ann Lee, 91, of Hilo died Feb. 17, 2017, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Olaa, she was a retired elementary school teacher from Waiakeawaena Elementary School.

Private services were held Feb. 23.

She is survived by husband, David Dongsup Lee of Hilo; daughters, Donna (Phillip, Esq.) Carey of Hilo, Marsha (John Chappell) Lee of California, Carolyn Lee of Hilo; son, Daniel (Jung Hae) Lee of Hilo; sisters, Diane Kim of Hilo, Meng (David) Shearer of Hilo, Helen Lee of San Mateo, Calif., Han Sung (Jim) Barry of Kailua-Kona; brothers, H. Bogart Kim of Hilo, Harry (Bobbie) Kim of Hilo; three granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews.
